Monrovia, Liberia – August 7, 2026: The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) unequivocally rejects the allegation circulating on social media and other platforms that Deputy Commissioner of Police Fitzgerald T. M. Biago, Officer-in-Charge of the LDEA, received a Toyota pickup truck from an individual alleged to be associated with drug trafficking. The claim is false and has not been supported by any verifiable evidence.— Hon. Fitzgerald T.M. Biago, Director General
DCP Biago states that he neither received nor accepted the vehicle described in the allegation and did not authorize anyone to receive it on his behalf. The LDEA is aware of no credible record, documentation, or evidence substantiating the claim.
The LDEA recognizes that public officials must remain open to legitimate scrutiny. For that reason, any person possessing credible evidence of misconduct is encouraged to submit it to the appropriate investigative authority for an independent and lawful review. Serious allegations should be tested through evidence and due process, not repeated as fact without verification.
The Agency maintains zero tolerance for corruption, misconduct, or collusion with criminal networks. These standards apply to every officer, regardless of rank, and any substantiated violation will be addressed in accordance with law and established disciplinary procedures.
The public and media are urged to verify claims before publishing or sharing them, particularly where unsupported allegations may prejudice ongoing operations, damage reputations, or weaken public confidence in national security institutions. This appeal does not restrict lawful criticism or responsible journalism; it reinforces the shared duty to distinguish allegation from established fact.
The LDEA remains focused on its operational mandate: disrupting drug-trafficking networks, protecting communities, preserving the integrity of investigations, and enforcing the law without fear, favor, or political influence. Unsubstantiated claims will not divert the Agency from that mission.
