LDEA Intercepts Major Marijuana Shipment and Arrests Suspect in Sinoe County

Monrovia, Liberia — May 14, 2026: The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), through its Sinoe County Detachment, has recorded another significant breakthrough in its ongoing nationwide crackdown against illegal drugs with the arrest of a suspected trafficker in Juazon Town, Sinoe County.
The suspect, Samuel Karzon, 52, a Liberian national and resident of Disco Hill Community, Grand Gedeh County, was apprehended on May 12, 2026, at approximately 9:00 AM during a targeted enforcement operation conducted by LDEA officers assigned to Sinoe County.
During a search and inspection, officers discovered fifteen (15) plates of marijuana weighing approximately 15 kilograms. The seized narcotics have an estimated street value of US$2,236.84, equivalent to more than LD$425,000.
According to preliminary findings, the suspect allegedly concealed the narcotics inside two blue containers placed in a bag, which was securely tied to a blue-and-white TVS Star motorbike in an apparent attempt to evade detection while transporting the illegal substances.
The suspect is currently undergoing investigation and will be processed and forwarded to court for prosecution in accordance with Liberia’s drug enforcement laws.
The LDEA maintains a strict zero-tolerance stance against drug trafficking and related criminal activities. The Agency reaffirmed its commitment to aggressively pursuing individuals and networks involved in the distribution of illegal substances across Liberia.
