About the LDEA

The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) is a semi-autonomous security agency operating under the statutory supervision of the Ministry of Justice. Established to protect the borders and citizens of the Republic of Liberia, we serve as the front line in the national fight against the scourge of narcotic substances and abuse.

Our authority is derived from the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act of 2023, which empowers our agents to interdict, investigate, and arrest those involved in the illicit drug trade. We don't just enforce laws; we safeguard the future of Liberian youth by dismantling the organized networks that profit from addiction.

Our Core Enforcement

The pillars of our strategy to secure the Republic.

Tactical Enforcement

We conduct high-stakes interdictions and "Clean Sweep" operations at major ports of entry, transit hubs, and known distribution centers to stop drugs before they reach our streets.

Intelligence Gathering

Our Intelligence Division works with international partners (like the DEA and Interpol) to track transnational cartels and dismantle local drug syndicates through covert surveillance.

Border Security

Monitoring Liberia's land borders and sea ports to prevent the country from being used as a transit point for South American and Asian drug cartels.

Rehabilitation Advocacy

While we enforce the law, we also advocate for the health and recovery of victims of drug abuse, supporting national efforts for better rehabilitation centers.

Our Prosecution Orders

The pillars of our strategy to secure the Republic.

Legal Prosecution

Working closely with the Ministry of Justice, we ensure that every arrest is backed by solid evidence, leading to successful prosecutions and the maximum sentencing for major traffickers.

Demand Reduction

We believe in prevention. Through school outreach and community programs, we educate Liberian youth about the dangers of "Kush" and other harmful substances.

  • Unusual chemical odors in residential areas.
  • Excessive foot traffic at odd hours in specific houses.
