LDEA Nimba Detachment Seizes 35 Boxes of Tramadol Worth L$1.16 Million

Monrovia, Liberia — March 26, 2026: Officers of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), Nimba County Detachment, seized thirty-five (35) boxes of Tramadol with an estimated street value of L$1,166,500 during a routine search at the Ganta–Guinea Port of Entry.

The seizure occurred on March 22, 2026, at approximately 3:30 PM, when LDEA officers intercepted a Renault truck traveling from Guinea to Liberia, bearing license plate AF233808.

During the search, officers discovered the thirty-five boxes of Tramadol, along with five scripts, concealed in bags of cassava dust. The narcotics were reportedly found to belong to Daniel Saye, a 23-year-old Liberian resident of Sanniquellie City.

In connection with the seizure, the truck driver, Kafoumba Kamara, and suspect Daniel Saye are currently in LDEA custody and are undergoing further investigation pending prosecution.

According to the LDEA, the offense is non-bailable under Liberia’s revised drug law.
