Monrovia, Liberia — October 2, 2026: The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has secured a significant court victory in a major drug trafficking case that began with a cocaine arrest at the Roberts International Airport in July 2025 and culminated in the conviction and sentencing of three defendants to 20 years each.

The case began on July 12, 2025, with the arrest of Quita Dolo Kosso, who was found in possession of 3.355 kilograms of cocaine. Kosso subsequently pleaded guilty and was sentenced to five years, less time served.

The investigation later widened, bringing several additional suspects before the court, including former LDEA officers Abdullah Sheriff, Joe I. Logan, and Lovette L. Flower, along with Nigerian national Tony Obi. Sheriff pleaded guilty and received a two-year sentence, with one year suspended. Menkarpoe Dou was subsequently discharged from the case after agreeing to testify for the State.

The remaining case proceeded to trial before the 13th Judicial Circuit Court in Margibi County, where the prosecution presented evidence and witnesses in support of the charges.

On September 7, 2026, a 12-member jury returned guilty verdicts against Joe I. Logan, Lovette L. Flower, and Tony Obi.

On September 29, 2026, Presiding Judge Roosevelt Z. Willie imposed 20-year prison sentences on each of the three convicts. The case involved narcotics and related proceeds valued at approximately US$181,008, and its equivalent in LRD is 63,201,600.

The LDEA commends the Judiciary, prosecution, investigators, witnesses, and partner institutions whose efforts helped bring the case to its conclusion. The outcome underscores the Agency’s continued commitment to pursuing drug trafficking cases through the justice system, regardless of the position, status, or affiliation of anyone implicated.

The LDEA calls on the public to remain vigilant and report suspected drug-related activities through its official hotlines: 0777-133-333 / 0888-133-333.
