LDEA Seizes Drugs and Uncovers USD $1.187 Million Hidden in Vehicle at Bo-Waterside

Monrovia, Liberia — March 27, 2026: Officers of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), Grand Cape Mount County Detachment, arrested a Guinean national and seized illicit drugs while uncovering USD $1,187,000 concealed inside a vehicle during a routine border inspection at the Bo-Waterside Port of Entry.

The operation took place on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at approximately 5:00 PM, when LDEA officers stopped a blue Toyota mini-bus bearing Guinean license plate BH-5002. The vehicle was owned and operated by Alpha M. Jalloh, a 45-year-old Guinean national residing in Mamba Point, Monrovia.

During the search, officers discovered two (2) packs of Tapentadol Tramadol concealed in the vehicle. They also uncovered a substantial amount of cash totaling One Million One Hundred Eighty-Seven Thousand United States Dollars (USD $1,187,000) hidden inside the bus.

The seized Tapentadol Tramadol has an estimated street value of LD$50,000 (approximately USD $277.70).

The suspect remains in LDEA custody as investigations continue in accordance with Liberia’s due process laws.

The LDEA noted that this successful operation follows another recent arrest by the same Grand Cape Mount team involving illicit drugs and USD $150,000 in cash, highlighting the agency’s intensified efforts to combat drug trafficking and related crimes along Liberia’s borders.
