LDEA CLARIFIES FALSE CLAIM REGARDING OFFICER-IN-CHARGE

The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) wishes to clarify information circulating publicly concerning its Officer-in-Charge, Deputy Commissioner of Police Fitzgerald T. M. Biago.

Following a review of relevant Agency personnel and assignment records, the LDEA has found no record that Mr. Jonathan Momolu has been appointed or assigned as the official driver of DCP Biago. Mr. Momolu is not an officer or employee of the LDEA and has not held an official appointment, assignment, or employment relationship with the Agency.

The LDEA cautions against drawing conclusions or associating any officer of the Agency with alleged criminal conduct in the absence of verified and credible information. The public and media institutions are encouraged to rely on information issued through lawful and official channels.

The LDEA remains a lead Agency alongside the LNP on the Joint National Security Investigation Team and continues to provide lawful assistance within its mandate to support an impartial, professional, and evidence-based investigation. The work of the Joint Investigation Team is guided by applicable law, established investigative procedures, and the evidence available.

The Officer-in-Charge has reaffirmed that no person will be shielded from investigation where credible information or evidence arises. Any person for whom credible information or evidence arises will be subject to lawful investigative procedures, without regard to status, personal relationship, influence, or position. The LDEA remains focused on its statutory mandate to combat illicit drugs, drug trafficking, transnational organized crime, and related offenses in the interest of national security and public safety.

The Agency reserves its rights under the laws of Liberia in relation to the knowing publication or dissemination of false information that unlawfully harms the reputation of the Agency or its personnel.

The public is encouraged to avoid speculation and to provide credible information through appropriate lawful channels where such information may assist ongoing investigative processes.
