President Boakai Appoints New LDEA Director General Amid Leadership Changes

In September 2024, the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) arrested two of its own officers for possession of narcotics in River Gee County. Agent Roland Hne, assigned to River Gee County, and Volunteer Agent Abel Cranshaw, assigned to Maryland County, were found in possession of 14.2 grams of KUSH, a synthetic cannabinoid, valued at approximately L$53,960 (US$284). The arrest occurred in Killepo Kanweiken, River Gee County.

Both officers were placed under investigation, and the LDEA stated that if found guilty, they would be forwarded to court for trial. This incident underscores the agency's commitment to internal accountability and its zero-tolerance policy toward misconduct within its ranks. The LDEA has also taken disciplinary actions against other personnel for various infractions, reflecting its dedication to upholding integrity and professionalism. These measures are part of the LDEA's broader efforts to combat drug trafficking and abuse in Liberia, ensuring that even those within the agency are held accountable for illegal activities.
